Privacy Policy

Last updated: March 4, 2026

BottleCard ("we," "our," or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use the BottleCard mobile application (the "App").

The Short Version

We collect no personal data. Period.

BottleCard is designed to work entirely on your device. Your wine collection, scans, notes, and photos never leave your iPhone. We have no servers, no accounts, no tracking, and no third-party analytics.

Information We Do NOT Collect

BottleCard does not collect, transmit, store, or share any of the following:

  • Personal information (name, email, phone number, address)
  • Account credentials or login data
  • Wine label photos or scanned images
  • Your wine collection data or tasting notes
  • Device identifiers or advertising IDs
  • Location data
  • Usage analytics or crash reports
  • Any other personal or behavioral data

How BottleCard Works

Camera Access

BottleCard requests permission to access your device camera to scan wine labels and menu photos. All image processing happens locally on your device using Apple's on-device Vision and Core ML frameworks. Images are never uploaded to any server.

Local Storage Only

All wine data you create in BottleCard — including scans, photos, notes, ratings, and tags — is stored exclusively in your device's local storage. This data is not transmitted to us or any third party.

AI-Powered Features

BottleCard's label scanning, text recognition (OCR), and food pairing recommendations are powered by on-device machine learning models. No data is sent to external AI services or APIs.

No Third-Party Services

BottleCard does not integrate any third-party SDKs, analytics platforms, advertising networks, or tracking tools.

Data Control & Deletion

Because all data is stored locally on your device:

  • You have complete control over your wine collection at all times
  • You can delete individual wine cards or your entire collection within the app
  • Uninstalling BottleCard permanently deletes all associated data from your device
  • We cannot recover your data if you delete the app, as we never had access to it

Children's Privacy

BottleCard is intended for users aged 21 and older in the United States (or the legal drinking age in your jurisdiction). We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under the legal drinking age.

Your California Privacy Rights (CCPA)

Under the California Consumer Privacy Act (CCPA), California residents have the right to know what personal information is collected, disclosed, or sold. Because BottleCard collects no personal information, there is no data to disclose, delete, or opt out of.

International Users

BottleCard is currently available in the United States. If you use the app from outside the U.S., the same privacy protections apply: no data is collected or transmitted.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you by updating the "Last updated" date at the top of this page and, if required, through the App or App Store update notes.
